Hiring, promoting and developing managers to become great at generating results through team members is crucial for building high performance organizations.
I have and continue to witness companies who promote great performing employees to managers, without properly assessing them for the role and without providing management training. This could be like rolling the dice at a casino and hoping for the best. Sometimes you win but more often you don’t.
With the tools and resources available, leaders must consider using psychometric assessments like the PXT Select to check for JobFit. The PXT Select provides insight into the leadership capabilities of the candidate or employee. It will also highlight the person’s strengths and challenges for the role and generate training and coaching recommendations.
There exist many options for providing leadership and management training that is easily accessible. However, I highly recommend in-person group training with other managers to be able to practice new skills in a non-threatening environment.
